Data centers have captured the attention of the computing
industry over the last few years, fueled mainly by the tremendous
growth in cloud computing. Companies need to make sure these
facilities and IT equipment operate as efficiently as possible.
Microsoft has taken a holistic approach to data center efficiency,
challenging convention and identifying innovative ways to increase
efficiency.
The heart of the data center is the array of servers and storage
devices that process the actual workloads. This module
discusses how Microsoft researches and designs server technologies
that are optimized for cloud workloads, and how we are driving
these key learnings and designs back through our supply base and
the industry at large.
