IT Pros pick Microsoft’s Software-Defined Networks Monitoring solution DEMon

Microsoft was recognized for its SDN Monitoring DEMon Solution and swept all six leader awards for Market, Price, Performance, Reliability, Service & Support and Innovation this week at the Ethernet Summit in Santa Clara, California. The award was presented by IT Brand Pulse and revealed the results of their annual brand leader surveys conducted in March 2014. The surveys covered Ethernet, SDN, and one other product category. Microsoft Networking Engineer to Discuss Ethernet Ecosystem Demand from the Cloud

We can all agree that the Cloud is an incredible technology advancement that is driving businesses to reimagine their IT models and spend. Microsoft Contributes Cloud Server Specification to Open Compute Project

Today Microsoft announced that it will be joining the Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) and will be contributing hardware specifications, design collateral (CAD and Gerber files), and system management source code for Microsoft's cloud server designs. These specifications apply to the server fleet being deployed for Microsoft's largest global cloud services, including Windows Azure, Bing, and Office 365. Designing and Managing Servers for Cloud-Scale Datacenters: Part 2

As I discussed in a recent blog post, designing infrastructure for cloud services like Office 365, Windows Azure, and Bing requires an understanding of the nexus of interactions between workloads, the Cloud OS, and server/datacenter architecture. It is critical to take a holistic view across these key areas in order to understand and achieve total cost of ownership (TCO) benefits, as the combination presents efficiencies that are greater than the sum of their parts.
